Adult Programs

Our primary goal is to counteract negative environmental influences in the lives of the citizens of our community. We will strengthen our community by empowering low-income and unskilled community members with marketable skills that will help them to find work.

We have found that a sound structured environment includes the household. For this reason, we are extending our services to older adults, particularly those who figure prominently in the lives of youths and young adults.

The program offers the following services:

Assessments and Referrals
Referrals are made to collaborating agencies based on assessments of the client's needs.

GED Preparation
This program helps parents and young adults obtain a GED needed to become eligible for more and better job opportunities.

The GED preparatory program is a 9-week accelerated course that focuses on the areas of the exam where test takers experience the most difficulty. Test-taking strategies and techniques are also reviewed. At the end of the course, participants will take a sample GED exam to assess their readiness for the test.

Clerical Skills Training
The Clerical Skills Training program is a 16-week course that covers the skills necessary for an entry level clerical, data entry, or receptionist job.

The areas of training include keyboard, computer literacy, telephone procedures, basic bookkeeping, filing, collating, prioritizing, organizing, scheduling, and promotion building techniques.

The program is open to anyone 17 or older on a first-come first-served basis. There is no fee for the training program.
